Zendaya, the 27-year-old actress, is set to make a grand comeback at the Met Gala on May 6 after a hiatus since 2019. Despite her excitement for Vogue’s prestigious fashion event, Zendaya confessed her nervousness about the whole experience. During an appearance on “Live with Kelly and Mark,” she revealed that going up the steps of the Met Gala is daunting, especially considering her absence from the event for the past four to five years.
Nevertheless, Zendaya’s return to the Met Gala is expected to be triumphant. This year, she will serve as a co-chair alongside renowned celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth. As one of the faces of the event, Zendaya will be among the first to arrive at the Anna Wintour event, welcoming other A-listers on the museum steps. Additionally, she graced the cover of Vogue magazine for the May issue, showcasing stunning photos that embody this year’s “garden of time” dress code with fantastical floral looks.
Zendaya made her debut on the Met Gala steps in 2015, wearing a red and black Fausto Puglisi dress for the “China: Through the Looking Glass” theme. Over the years, she has continued to impress with her fashion choices, including a memorable Joan of Arc-inspired look in 2018 and a transforming light-up Cinderella gown in 2019, perfectly aligned with the night’s “Camp: Notes on Fashion” theme.
Discussing Zendaya’s impeccable sense of style, Ripa emphasized that designers fight to dress her, given her influence in the fashion world. Despite keeping her outfit choice for this year’s “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” theme under wraps, Zendaya credited her longtime stylist, Law Roach, for their collaboration since she was 14. Zendaya views fashion as a form of creativity, allowing her to embody different characters through her clothing choices, especially since she considers herself a shy and introverted person.
Zendaya’s approach to fashion reflects her desire to continue the creativity beyond her acting roles. Whether it’s for press tours or red carpet events, she sees fashion as an opportunity to create characters and step into different personas. Recently, Zendaya has been channeling her character from the movie “Challengers,” which premieres this Friday, by incorporating sporty ensembles with a tennis theme, including racquet-embellished dresses and tennis ball-adorned heels. Throughout her career, Zendaya’s fashion choices have not only showcased her evolving style but also her ability to transform and embody diverse characters through her clothing.
