Los Angeles Lakers center Christian Wood recently filed for a temporary restraining order against his ex-girlfriend, Yasmine Lopez, citing a series of troubling incidents following their breakup in December 2022. According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Wood accused Lopez of causing him mental and emotional stress, as well as financial damage to his valuable property. Among the incidents detailed in the court filings, Wood claimed that Lopez and her friends trespassed on his California property, resulting in damage to his Mercedes-Benz and other vehicles.
In addition to the property damage, Wood described an August 2023 incident in which Lopez allegedly broke into his home in Encino, destroying various items and attempting to physically assault him. This behavior, combined with previous incidents of vandalism and trespassing, led Wood to believe that Lopez was stalking him and using his publicized work schedule to track his movements and target his property.
One of the most troubling aspects of Wood’s allegations involved their 8-month-old son, Kobe Sean. Wood claimed that Lopez refused to hand over their child when instructed by the police, instead making false allegations against him and attempting to alienate him from their son. As a result, Wood requested joint legal custody and primary physical custody of the child, highlighting his concerns for Kobe Sean’s welfare in light of Lopez’s behavior.
In response to Wood’s allegations, a judge granted a temporary restraining order against Lopez, requiring her to stay at least 100 yards away from Wood at all times, except for “brief and peaceful contact” related to their child. The order specifically prohibited Lopez from harassing, attacking, striking, threatening, or stalking Wood, and included restrictions on her possession of firearms while the order was active. The temporary restraining order was set to expire on March 20, providing a measure of protection for Wood and his family.
The experiences outlined by Christian Wood in his petition for a restraining order against Yasmine Lopez are deeply troubling and speak to the challenges faced by victims of harassment and domestic violence. Wood’s decision to seek legal protection underscores the importance of taking proactive steps to address dangerous behavior and protect oneself and loved ones from harm. As this case unfolds, it serves as a stark reminder of the need to take allegations of abuse and harassment seriously and to provide support and resources to those in need of assistance.
