President Putin revealed that the death count in Friday’s tragic Moscow mass shooting is much higher than originally believed, with 133 people killed in the vicious attack at Crocus City Hall. He likened the shooters to Nazis, stating that they killed in an organized fashion, targeting Russian citizens and even children.
Although ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack, President Putin squarely placed the blame on Ukrainian officials, accusing them of working to allow the perpetrators to cross the border into their country. Despite this, an anonymous United States official has stated that there is no reason to doubt the Islamic State’s claim.
Graphic Scenes Go Viral
Videos from the tragic shooting went viral, depicting graphic scenes of death and destruction at the music hall. People were seen huddling behind chairs as gunshots echoed throughout the structure. Initial estimates put the death count at above 40, with explosives reportedly used during the attack, causing the entire building to catch fire.
International Warnings Issued
Officials in Western countries issued warnings to their citizens to avoid large public gatherings following Putin’s recent election victory, fearing possible terror attacks. Security measures were heightened, and at least one man was detained by police, with video footage showing him being frisked against a wall. It remains unclear how many people were detained or how many were involved in the mass shooting.
The Russia’s Investigative Committee expects the death toll to continue rising as more people were critically injured in the shooting. The aftermath of the tragic incident has left a scar on the nation, with authorities on high alert for any potential threats to public safety.
