Ice Spice, the rapper also known as Isis Naija Gaston, admitted during an interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that she was utterly confused when she attended the 2024 Super Bowl with Taylor Swift. Fallon pointed out that she looked confused while watching Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, play against the San Francisco 49ers in February.
When asked if she knew anything about football before attending the game, Ice Spice confessed that she had a sense of knowing that quickly disappeared. She shared that she would wait for Taylor Swift to cheer before joining in with a “Yay” herself. It was evident that she did not have a clue what was happening on the field, despite being in the company of Swift and her squad that included Blake Lively, Lana Del Rey, and Keleigh Teller.
Ice Spice made headlines at the time when fans took to social media to point out her puzzled expressions during the championship game at Allegiant Stadium near Las Vegas. One viral clip showed Swift pointing to the field and explaining something to Ice Spice, who initially looked confused before finally catching on and saying, “Oh!”
The friendship between Ice Spice and Taylor Swift blossomed after working together on a remix of Swift’s song “Karma” the previous year. Swift even invited Ice Spice to perform their collaboration on her Eras Tour. However, internet trolls speculated that Swift befriended Ice Spice for clout, a claim that Ice Spice vehemently denied. In an interview with Rolling Stone, she expressed how well her personality meshed with Swift’s and how they genuinely enjoyed each other’s company.
Swift gushed about how Ice Spice showed a keen interest not only in music but also in the music industry and how it operates. She expressed excitement about seeing Ice Spice dive into the strategic, financial, and business aspects of her career, showing that she was not content with just being a passenger but wanted to drive her own career forward.
