Former child star Shaun Weiss, best known for his role as Goldberg the Goalie in the “Mighty Ducks” trilogy, recently made an appearance at the House of Blues in Anaheim. The occasion? Country singer Niko Moon’s tour, where both Weiss and Moon, who are former addicts, came together to celebrate Weiss’ recovery journey.
Niko Moon, a fellow former addict, wanted to shine a spotlight on Weiss’ sobriety, referring to him as a “hometown hero.” The connection to the Anaheim Ducks, who were actually named after the film series, made the event even more special as it took place in close proximity to the House of Blues.
During the event, Niko Moon announced that all streaming proceeds of his new single “Better Days” would be donated to the Happy Cowboy Foundation. This charity, founded by Moon, is dedicated to providing free therapy to individuals dealing with mental health issues and drug addiction.
In a memorable moment, Shaun Weiss led the audience in the iconic ‘Ducks’ chant, a tradition from the movie where the players quack together before a game to hype each other up. Weiss, clearly enjoying the atmosphere, even presented Niko Moon with his very own Goldberg jersey before the chanting began.
To keep the excitement going, Shaun and Niko tossed signed jerseys to the fans in the crowd, displaying their baseball skills by throwing the hockey jerseys off the stage. This gesture not only entertained the audience but also served as a tribute to Weiss’ journey to sobriety.
Shaun Weiss’s appearance at the House of Blues was not only a celebration of his four years of sobriety but also a testament to his resilience. Despite rumors of a relapse, Weiss assured fans that he is staying on track and would seek help if needed. Through his actions and positive attitude, Weiss continues to inspire others with his story of recovery, one “quack” at a time.
