Lazing under the shade of palm trees, on a beach fringed with crystal clear waters, Davina McCall can’t help but acknowledge the tough job she has on her hands while holidaying in the Maldives. As the former presenter of Big Brother and a mother of three, Davina recently found herself on the South Male Atoll, soaking up the sun and posing for a shoot before receiving her MBE for her remarkable contributions to broadcasting. What made her professional getaway even more incredible was the presence of her partner, renowned celebrity hairstylist Michael Douglas, who not only accompanied her but also took care of her hair. Their time spent together in this paradise was truly unforgettable, as Davina, grinning from ear to ear, recounts the brilliant experience they had together.
While Davina and Michael had the pleasure of enjoying the stunning setting and indulging in the leisurely activities offered by TUI BLUE, their children Holly, Tilly, and Chester remained at home. Holly, the eldest at 22, is pursuing her studies in Newcastle, and Tilly is currently exploring Australia. Davina believes in giving her children wings, nurturing their independence and confidence to venture out and follow their own paths in life. “Obviously the reality of that will be…quiet,” she confesses. “I quite enjoy the chaos. But I’d much rather they went off confidently than clung on to my legs and never want to leave.”
Davina McCall’s continued role as the brand ambassador for TUI BLUE since 2022 has not only filled her schedule but also permitted her to champion midlife women and fearlessly campaign for and write about the menopause. Embracing the concept of a second spring, Davina recognizes that the phase of letting go as children transition into adulthood marks the birth of something new. This newfound freedom allows individuals to introspect and contemplate what they truly want to achieve during this next phase of life. Although Davina admits she’s not one to sit idly by for an entire week, she still relished her time at TUI BLUE’s Olhuveli Romance Hotel. Alongside the guides and hosts of the resort, Davina indulged in a range of activities, aiming to make the most of her island getaway. Delighted by the opportunity to learn Maldivian cooking from the hotel chef, she seized the chance to exercise while overlooking the mesmerizing ocean. Additionally, her exploration of a shipwreck and the underwater world surrounding it left a lasting impression on her. An hour’s boat ride led them to the seemingly deserted wreckage, where snorkeling revealed an abundance of mesmerizing marine life. The sheer magnificence of the sea, Davina exclaims, was truly unbelievable.
Now back in the UK, Davina has turned her attention to her upcoming major project: launching her own lingerie brand, Sessi, in April. Venturing into the world of business has been both interesting and challenging for Davina, as she openly admits her lack of expertise in this field. With every step, she is learning and growing, embracing the opportunity to expand her horizons beyond her comfort zone.
