Recently, Jeezy made a change in his custody request for his and Jeannie Mai’s 2-year-old daughter, Monaco. Initially asking for full custody, Jeezy is now seeking to split custody with the former “Real” co-host. In court documents obtained by TMZ, Jeezy claimed that he has hardly seen his daughter since entering an informal custody agreement with Mai in late 2023. Alleging that Mai moved out of their shared home with Monaco and often keeps their daughter’s whereabouts unknown to him, Jeezy stated that this violates their prior agreement.
Jeezy further claimed that Mai is keeping Monaco away from him because of his ownership of a gun. However, he argued that he has always owned firearms and that Monaco has never been negatively impacted by them. Additionally, Jeezy stated that Mai has blocked his number, preventing him from FaceTiming with Monaco. Referring to himself as an active and present father in his daughter’s life, Jeezy expressed concern that keeping Monaco away from him would have a detrimental effect on her emotional state.
On the other hand, Mai was not immediately available for comment when contacted by Page Six. Earlier this month, Jeezy had requested primary custody of Monaco due to Mai’s busy schedule, which he believed was not in the best interest of their daughter. Mai had previously denied accusations from Jeezy that she was “gatekeeping” Monaco from him, emphasizing her desire for both parents to actively participate in their daughter’s life in an open and supportive environment.
In September, Jeezy filed for divorce from Mai after two years of marriage, citing that their union was “irretrievably broken.” Sources close to the couple revealed that Mai was devastated by the split and expressed a desire to reconcile with Jeezy, as she deeply loves him and wants to restore their family unit. The emotional toll of the custody battle and divorce proceedings seem to have taken a significant toll on both parties, highlighting the complexity and challenges of navigating such personal and legal matters.
