While King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia were spending their Easter break in snowy Jämtland County, Crown Princess Victoria, along with her husband Prince Daniel and their two children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar, flew to Palma, Mallorca for a more tropical getaway.
During their stay in Palma, the royal family enjoyed lunch at the Mar de Nudos restaurant, a beautiful open-air venue overlooking the marina. The restaurant offers a fusion of Mediterranean and Japanese dishes, providing a unique dining experience for the family.
Despite enjoying their Easter break in Spain, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel are scheduled to return to their royal duties on Monday, April 8th. They will be attending a diplomatic reception with the king and queen as part of their official engagements.
Princess Estelle, the eldest child of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, is the future queen of Sweden. She is the first female in Swedish history to be born with the right to inherit the crown that cannot be superseded by the birth of a male heir. This historic change in the Swedish monarchy came into effect on January 1, 1980, when Crown Princess Victoria was just two years old.
In recent years, there have been significant changes in the Swedish monarchy. King Carl XVI Gustaf made the decision to strip five of his grandchildren of their royal titles, in order to strictly associate Swedish royalty with the office of the head of state. This means that as of November 2019, Princess Madeleine’s children (Leonore, Nicolas, and Adrienne) and Prince Carl Philip’s sons (Alexander and Gabriel) no longer hold the title of His/Her Royal Highness.
Overall, the royal family’s vacation in Palma, Mallorca provided a well-deserved break for Crown Princess Victoria and her family, allowing them to relax and enjoy quality time together away from the demands of their royal duties. The future queen of Sweden, Princess Estelle, continues to be a significant figure in the Swedish monarchy, representing a new era of change and modernization within the royal family.
