Colin Jost recently shared a shocking update on his experience as an Olympics Surfing correspondent in Tahiti. His coverage, which was meant to be both harrowing and hilarious, took a turn for the worse when he suffered a series of injuries and illnesses that led to his departure from the games.
A Diagnosis of Leprosy?
According to Colin, NBC has jokingly diagnosed him with leprosy. While the network executives are not medical professionals, the severity of his wounds and infections made them dub him as a scourge. Colin humorously referred to himself as a “leper” and explained that he was exiled to the island of Malta for isolation, much to his amusement.
Colin’s misfortune started with a toe injury sustained while surfing in Tahiti. This injury quickly escalated into a staph infection, accompanied by an infestation of ants in the wound. To make matters worse, he also developed a painful ear infection that prevented him from getting back in the water for the rest of his trip.
Despite the ordeal, Colin seems to be making the most of his time in Malta. He visited a local casino and humorously mentioned that he spent the money he earned as a surfing correspondent there. He joked about fitting right in on the island, given its history of bubonic plague outbreaks.
In reflecting on his time in Tahiti, Colin expressed gratitude towards the locals for their hospitality and warmth. He even found humor in the situation, recounting how they would occasionally glance at his foot and whisper “Chupacabra” as a joke. Despite the challenges he faced, Colin maintained a lighthearted approach and embraced laughter as the best medicine.
