The Departure of Britney Spears’ Lawyer, Mathew Rosengart

After successfully bringing Britney Spears’ conservatorship case to a close, Mathew Rosengart, a powerhouse litigator, has decided to step down as the pop star’s lawyer. His goal was to suspend Britney’s father and restore her fundamental rights and civil liberties, which they were able to achieve together. In April, Britney reached a settlement with her father, Jamie Spears, ending their legal battle without going to trial. This allowed Britney to gain her freedom and no longer be involved with court proceedings.

Britney replaced her court-appointed lawyer, Samuel D. Ingham III, with Rosengart in July 2021 after speaking out about the abusive nature of her conservatorship publicly for the first time. Within months, Rosengart was able to have Jamie suspended from controlling Britney’s personal and financial affairs. This eventually led to the termination of the entire conservatorship in November.

Under Rosengart’s guidance, Britney was able to secure several lucrative deals, including her memoir “The Woman in Me,” which quickly became a New York Times bestseller. In the book, Britney credited Rosengart for informing her about the freedom she had gained through the legal battle. He acknowledged Britney’s testimony as the catalyst for her freedom, giving her the credit she deserved after years of her father taking all the credit.

More recently, Rosengart worked alongside another top attorney, Laura Wasser, to settle Britney’s divorce from her third husband, Sam Asghari. Even though the former couple had been together since 2016, their marriage only lasted a year. After several successful legal endeavors, Rosengart has decided to part ways with Britney Spears, leaving behind a legacy of freedom and justice for the pop star.
