Lady Helen Taylor, daughter of the Duke of Kent, rang in her 60th birthday surrounded by loved ones last weekend. The celebration was a grand affair, with Lady Helen being presented with a stunning cake adorned with sparklers by her children Eloise and Cassius. Lady Marina Windsor, Lady Helen’s niece, gave us a sneak peek into the glamorous party through her Instagram account, as reported by Tatler. The event took place inside a beautifully decorated marquee, featuring a long dining table adorned with flowers, foliage, and tealights.
Lady Helen Taylor and her husband, Timothy Taylor, have four children together – Columbus, Cassius, Eloise, and Estella. Interestingly, all four of Lady Helen’s children are in line for the throne, with Lady Helen herself occupying the 47th spot. Cassius, who pursued art management at Goldsmiths University, now runs his own events company, Telltale, and enjoys DJing in his free time. On the other hand, Columbus works as an Associate Director at his father’s international gallery.
Lady Helen’s children share a strong bond with their cousins – Lady Marina, Lady Amelia, and Edward Windsor. These cousins are the children of George Windsor, Earl of St Andrews and Sylvana Tomaselli. Lady Helen and George also have a younger brother, Lord Nicholas Windsor, who relinquished his right to the throne upon converting to Catholicism in 2001.
Lady Helen’s parents, the Duke of Kent and Katharine, Duchess of Kent, have royal ties to the late Queen Elizabeth II. Lady Helen herself is a first cousin to Queen Elizabeth II and often attends official royal engagements. While it’s unclear if Lady Helen’s parents were present at her 60th birthday party, their presence would have added a regal touch to the celebrations.
Lady Helen Taylor is not the only member of the British royal family celebrating a milestone birthday this year. Princess Alexandra’s son, James Ogilvy, and Prince Edward marked their 60th birthdays in February and March, respectively. Additionally, Lady Sarah Chatto, daughter of the late Princess Margaret, will turn 60 on 1 May. These royal birthdays bring back memories of a portrait taken at Windsor Castle to commemorate their 21st birthdays in 1985.
Aside from her royal connections, Lady Helen is also known for her philanthropic efforts. She has worked with art dealer Karsten Schubert and currently serves as a patron of the CLIC Sargent children’s cancer charity. Lady Helen is also a trustee of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and sits on the advisory board of the Glyndebourne Festival Opera.
Lady Helen Taylor’s 60th birthday celebration was a lavish affair filled with love, laughter, and royal connections. As she continues to inspire others through her philanthropic work, Lady Helen’s legacy as a fashion-forward muse and dedicated charity patron will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on those around her.
