The 30th Annual SAG Awards: What to Expect

The upcoming SAG Awards are set to be broadcasted on Netflix on February 24th at 8pm EST from the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles. This will be the 30th edition of the awards show, following a historic SAG-AFTRA strike that occurred earlier in the year, causing a shutdown in Hollywood for over 100 days.

Unlike many other award ceremonies, the SAG Awards have a tradition of not having a host. While they briefly deviated from this tradition in 2018 and 2019, they quickly returned to their host-free format in 2020. The decision to go host-free was influenced by the success of other award shows, such as the Oscars, which also went without a host and saw their ratings improve. Additionally, producers aim to keep the show concise, with a target runtime of two hours to avoid it dragging on.

The SAG Awards will feature a lineup of presenters and ambassadors, with this year’s ambassadors being Phil Dunster from “Ted Lasso” and Taylor Zakhar Perez from “Red, White and Royal Blue.” The ceremony will be kicked off by Idris Elba, and notable stars like Jennifer Aniston, Robert Downey Jr., Margot Robbie, Michael Cera, Issa Rae, and more will be presenting awards throughout the evening. Additionally, Barbra Streisand will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

With a total of 13 awards set to be handed out, all voted on by actors themselves, the SAG Awards promise to be an exciting and star-studded evening. Viewers can expect to see a mix of heartfelt speeches, glamorous red carpet moments, and possibly some surprises along the way. Keep an eye out for the latest celebrity news and highlights coming out of the event, as it is sure to be a night to remember.
