Utah resident LeGrand Gold, a cancer patient, received a heartwarming surprise from his idol, Dolly Parton. When he was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2019, he and his wife, Alice Gold, created a “bucket list” of 11 things they hoped to accomplish before LeGrand’s passing. One of LeGrand’s greatest wishes was to meet Dolly Parton, a dream he believed would never come true.
Earlier this month, the Gold family received news that LeGrand’s cancer was spreading rapidly, and the ongoing chemotherapy was no longer effective. Time was running out, and it seemed unlikely that LeGrand would be able to fulfill all the items on his bucket list. However, fate intervened when Parton learned about LeGrand’s desire to meet her. In an act of genuine kindness, Parton personally called the Gold family around 9:30 a.m. on a Friday morning.
