Cardi B and Offset find themselves in legal trouble once again. According to TMZ, the couple is being sued by their former landlord for allegedly skipping out on bills and causing extensive damage to their Beverly Hills vacation home. The lawsuit claims that the collaborators began occupying the luxurious property in early 2022 but abruptly left in October without providing any notice.
The landlord alleges that Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, and Offset, whose real name is Kiari Cephus, were behind on their rent and utility payments before leaving the estate. This failure to meet their financial obligations puts them in a precarious position legally. The costs of damages incurred as a result of their occupancy are estimated to be around $85,000, according to the lawsuit.
The complaint filed by the landlord highlights the significant property damage that was left behind when the couple vacated the premises. Broken furniture, burn marks on tables and counters, holes in the walls, and permanent scratches on rugs, curtains, and tile floors illustrate the disregard for the property’s condition during their stay.
This lawsuit is just the latest development in Cardi B and Offset’s tumultuous relationship. Earlier this month, fans noticed that the couple unfollowed each other on Instagram, signaling trouble in paradise. Cardi B further fueled speculation when she mentioned getting rid of “dead weight” during an Instagram Live session. Although she did not explicitly mention Offset, her comments seemed to allude to their relationship issues.
On December 11, Cardi B confirmed that she and Offset had officially ended their marriage after more than six years together. She expressed her indifference towards the rumors surrounding Offset’s alleged infidelity, stating that she had been single for some time. However, she admitted struggling with how to announce the split to the world, indicating the emotional toll it had taken on her.
Four days later, Cardi B publicly criticized Offset on Twitter, calling him a derogatory term. In her tweet, she hinted at the challenges she faced while feeling vulnerable and urged him not to underestimate the consequences. This public display of animosity only adds to the media spectacle surrounding their relationship.
Cardi B and Offset were secretly married in September 2017 and have since welcomed two children, daughter Kulture and son Wave. Offset also has three other children from previous relationships. Despite the ups and downs, the estranged couple is set to perform together at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami for New Year’s Eve.
The lawsuit filed against Cardi B and Offset sheds light on their financial troubles and alleged property damage, adding to the already intense public scrutiny of their relationship. As the legal battle unfolds, it remains to be seen how this latest controversy will affect the couple’s personal and professional lives.
