The holiday season often brings with it catchy tunes and festive cheer. However, reality stars Scheana Shay and Lala Kent have taken a different approach with their new holiday single titled “Christmas Slay.” Released on Friday, the song not only pays homage to many iconic Bravo moments but also takes a swipe at their former “Vanderpump Rules” co-star Rachel “Raquel” Leviss.
In one pointed verse of the song, Shay raps, “It’s Christmastime, and I’m tryin’ to push off the naughty list / You catch my drift? I wanna be an angel, not a Rachel, bitch.” This lyric directly references Leviss’ temporary restraining order (TRO) against Shay earlier this year. Another line boldly declares, “No more TROs!” The friendship between Shay and Leviss came to an abrupt end after Shay discovered Leviss’ affair with “Pump Rules” OG Tom Sandoval in March. This revelation shattered the relationship between Shay’s best friend and castmate Ariana Madix, who had been dating Sandoval for nearly a decade.
Reports emerged of a heated physical exchange between Shay and Leviss following a joint appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” on the same night Madix learned of Sandoval’s infidelity. While Shay vehemently denied Leviss’ claim that she had “punched” the former pageant queen, Leviss filed for a temporary order of protection against Shay, which was eventually dismissed by a judge. Despite the dismissal, Leviss did not return for filming Season 11 of “Pump Rules” after participating in the Season 10 reunion separately from Shay due to the active TRO.
As “Pump Rules” gears up for Season 11, Leviss is embarking on a new venture in the podcast world with “Rachel Goes Rogue” premiering in January. It remains to be seen how the dynamics will shift within the cast, as well as whether the fallout between Shay and Leviss will continue to cast a shadow over the show.
In an episode of her podcast “Scheananigans,” Shay opened up about her fallout with Leviss. She questioned Leviss’ need for a temporary restraining order, stating, “Why do you need a temporary restraining order against me? I’m not stalking you. I have not tried to contact you.” Shay expressed her confusion and emphasized that she had no contact whatsoever, leaving her to wonder about Leviss’ fear that prompted such legal action.
While the song takes aim at Leviss, it also celebrates the larger Bravo universe. Shay and Kent incorporate playful nods to several “Real Housewives” stars who have left lasting impressions on their respective franchises. They acknowledge the sisterhood of the “Real Housewives of Orange County” OGs Vicki Gunvalson, Shannon Beador, and Tamra Judge with the line, “It’s the Tres Amigas sippin’ tequilas.” Additionally, they give a shout-out to “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum Lisa Rinna and her famed pout, rapping, “Lip service to Santa like Lisa Reeh-nas.” The song also briefly mentions Erika Jayne’s legal win in her $750,000 diamond earrings case, further tying the song to the larger Bravo universe.
As the holiday season rolls in, Shay and Kent have given Bravo fans a unique and drama-filled holiday single. “Christmas Slay” not only takes listeners down memory lane but also highlights the ongoing dynamics within the “Vanderpump Rules” cast. With the premiere of Season 11 on the horizon and Leviss’ new podcast venture, it seems that the drama is far from over in the Bravo world. Fans eagerly anticipate how the storyline will unfold and how these reality stars will continue to dominate the headlines.
