But The National Enquirer reports that Duchovny went into rehab because Leoni “finally caught him [cheating].”
He stated Tea gave him an ultimatum: “Get treatment or our marriage is over,” a source told the tab, which is riding high after getting former presidential candidate John Edwards to admit his tomcattin’.
“At first, Duchovny tried to lie his way out of trouble, but eventually was overwhelmed with guilt and confessed,” The Enquirer contends.
US Weekly agrees that Duchovny, 48, “has a history of indiscretions,” according to “multiple sources.” The mag claims he put the moves on an extra on his Showtime hit, “Californication.” “They ended up making out,” alleges a source. “She later heard this wasn’t the first time he’d taken special interest in an extra.”

I’m glad they finally dropped the whole porn addiction angle. Seriously, how can you can be addicted to something you need to survive? That’s like saying “Hey, everybody, I’m addicted to oxygen.” Pfft. Celebrities. What a bunch of weirdos.

Amusing as it is day in and day out, Amy Winehouse gossip is somewhat predictable and tends to follow some or all of the following themes:

1. Checking in or out of rehab
2. Bailing on a concert inexplicably
3. Being photographed taking hard drugs
4. Calling for the release of Blake Fielder-Civil

This day we’re covering a news story from group #2. The beleaguered singer is facing legal action after she pulled out of a concert in Paris just two hours before she was due to perform - she was the headlining act, no less.

She was “taken ill” in London and was unable to travel to France. So to talk.

Organizers will start legal proceedings against her because of her cancellation.

A statement said: “We were told by Winehouse’s agent at 8 pm that she would not be there, and we were forced to cancel the performance. We have still not been given any explanation of the exact reasons for her absence.”

That’s about it for this post. Assuming “taken ill” is code for “OD’d on heroin again,” we still like her in our Celebrity Death Pool.

David Duchovny has checked into rehab for sex addiction, according to People:

“I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction,” the actor states in an exclusive statement. “I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family.”

Ironically, David Duchovny plays a sex addict on the Showtime series Californication. The network issued the following statement:

“All of us at Showtime wish David and his family the ideal during this very private time.”

Perhaps “private time” wasn’t the ideal choice of words, Showtime. Anyway, this puts the X-Files in a whole new light especially after reading Agent Scully’s statement:

One time he asked if we could do it U.F.O-style. At first I was confused, until he showed me ‘the probe.’

I love celebrity family feuds. Michael Lohan responded late yesterday to his daughter Lindsay’s response about him criticizing her leech girlfriend Samantha Ronson. In an interview with E! on Wednesday, Michael claimed Samantha is “using” Lindsay and planning to writing a tell-all book. Both Sam and Lindsay took their repsective MySpace pages to blast Michael yesterday. Here’s his response to their response:

“Who’s out of control? Whose life is out of control? Give me a break. Going from place to place, being dragged around by Samantha so she can make more money off of Lindsay being there when she spins … She’s gone from making $7 million to less than a million a motion picture. Who’s out of control? I go to church. I go and help people in rehab. That’s control. How can she say I’m out of control?”

“I want Lindsay to be in a good place. When I started looking at what Samantha was doing, dragging Lindsay to clubs, drinking around Lindsay … Samantha is one of the biggest problems in her life. That’s what Dina told me. I’m reacting on what Dina said, but then Dina steps out of the picture because she wants to look like the good guy. Dina’s a two-face. She wants to try to look good and stay on Lindsay’s good side instead of being a good parent. I don’t give two hoots about my relationship with Lindsay as a friend. Sure this seems funny — let’s everyone laugh at the guy addicted to sex — but addiction is no laughing matter. A few years ago I overcame a pretty severe addiction to justice. I couldn’t go two days without jumping some random biker gang up to no good. Luckily I got help and am proud to state I haven’t killed someone with my hands in 689 days.

Turns out Amy Winehouse’s trip to the ER Monday night wasn’t because of a reaction her medication. Her father Mitch is pretty adamant that someone slipped Ecstasy in Amy’s drink and has even contacted the fuzz, according to The Sun:

A source said after Rehab star Amy was discharged yesterday: “Mitch is furious. He’s certain someone put E in Amy’s drink — and he’s determined to get to the bottom of it. He’s convinced that one of her hangers-on was responsible and he’s waiting for a toxicology report to show what caused her to fit.

Jesus. I mean, who would slip E into Amy Winehouse’s drink? I just couldn’t fathom what sort of individual would do such a thing. If only we knew of a suspect with a long history of drug abuse that would love to see Amy trip her face off for a couple of hours while getting shitfaced drunk at the same time. Hmm. Amy Winehouse’s dad, Mitch, says he fears his troubled daughter is going to die, and die “a very slow and painful death” at that.

“She won’t die of a drug overdose, it won’t be that swift,” he told the BBC News. “She will die, unfortunately, of emphysema. That would be the most likely scenario if she didn’t check her behavior, which she is doing.”

Mitch Winehouse added that Amy’s incarcerated husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, should probably check into rehab when he gets out of prison.

Wonder where he got that incredible insight?

“If he comes out and they go back to doing what they were doing before, she is going to have a serious health problem,” the elder Winehouse said of Blake Fielder-Civil, who has been locked up for the past seven months.

“He’s a fit young man, he could probably carry on like this for the rest of his life. Amy can’t and he has to understand that,” Mitch said.

Amy Winehouse - who has been in the news recently for a series of strange behavior and drug-fueled melees - will stop performing in September to conserve her voice. She will also start writing her new album around then.

Well, that’s the plan unless a spontaneous coke binge interferes.

Mel thought his son — who has turned his life around since he was admitted to the Cri-Help rehab facility in Hollywood last year — could help the troubled Toxic singer do the same.

A source tells the publication, “Mel felt Ed would be a great influence on Brit, and if the relationship turned into romance, all the superior.”

Mel then arranged a meeting between the pair at Britney’s Hollywood Hills home last March, says the source.

“He sincerely believed that his son could help Britney stay on the straight and narrow and that they might hit it off as a couple as well,” the source adds.

But Spears refused to see Ed, and hid from him and Mel as soon as they arrived at her house.

The source continues, “She hid from them for most of the night. Mel and his son spent most of their evening speaking to her bodyguards!” (Source)
