The venerable celebrity news publication not only breaks a lot of gossip, it makes it much more fun to follow and read. We have to give them props.
This week’s cover story, featuring Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag (it’s a safe bet that someone from The Hills or named Spears will be on there three out of every four weeks), is one of the magazine’s finest efforts yet.
Spencer Pratt’s “terrifying obsession” with the Lauren Conrad sex tape. The “war” over Stephanie Pratt. A sinister plot to “destroy” Lauren and take over her show.
Don’t get us wrong. We love the show - to an unhealthy extent. But that’s a tad dramatic, don’t you think? This is the The Hills, right? Not Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of The Sith. Or is it? See below ….
The Hills’ rivaling stars Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag, together again on the cover of Us Weekly. That hasn’t happened in, like, almost a full month!
While the battle over sex tape rumors is heating up, the show will be cooling off for the summer. The season finale of The Hills is next Monday.
Rest assured, though - the 19-episode Season Four starts in August!
Wearing a cute navy sundress, Lauren Conrad was spotted passing through LAX airport, getting ready to take off on a flight alongside good friend Lauren Bosworth.
After getting pointed in the right direction by an airport employee, The Hills duo shared a laugh as they removed their jewelry while passing through security and on through the terminal - headed for a girl’s weekend in Miami.
She might be writing a hockey blog for the NHL Playoffs, but the young hunk seen with Lauren Conrad frequently is a minor league baseball player named Doug Reinhardt, who’s in the Baltimore Orioles’ farm system. She may be writing a hockey blog for the NHL Playoffs, but the young hunk seen with Lauren Conrad frequently is a minor league baseball player named Doug Reinhardt, who’s in the Baltimore Orioles’ farm system.
His stats suck (the guy’s batting .201 career in the minors) but hey, he’s only 22 - and maybe good looks will help him make the huge leagues.
Besides, he’s already qualified as a solid player in our book if he’s really going out with Lauren Conrad! Here are some photos of them …

Oh, that’s Selma Blair in between them. Somehow she snuck in there. We’re mostly concerned with The Hills’ Lauren Conrad and aspiring actress Rumer Willis, though. Both of them added multiple inches to their hair in the past week with super-straight hair extensions. Do you dig it or not? Hollywood hair extensions: Hit or miss?

“I’m blogging about the NHL playoffs because I love live hockey and I thought this would be a fun way to get more involved with the postseason,” The Hills star said.
She’s been to a bunch of games, but now that she’s got her own blog, the Orange County native will have to learn the nuances of hockey, and she’s already asked her fans: “Is there anything you guys think I should know as I watch the Ducks?”
The Hollywood Gossip put together a few notes and things for Lauren Conrad to ponder as she watches her beloved Anaheim team defend its title:

LC at a Ducks-Los Angeles Kings game this winter.
That ought to do it. The Ducks’ first-round series with the Dallas Stars begins tonight in Anaheim. Let’s go Ducks! And Lauren Conrad!

I still remember the first time I stumbled on The Hills, and how confused I was. It couldn’t be scripted, since the dialogue was awful and the characters could barely deliver lines. But it couldn’t be a reality show, because the scenes played out too perfectly. Cameras always happened to be rolling when the phone rang or the meaningful text message arrived.
It is, of course, a reality show, but a strangely innovative one.
Lauren Conrad and her friends in Los Angeles might replay scenes they’ve already lived through, or make carefully timed entrances into rooms so the cameras can get the right angle, but they never give a hint that they’re being filmed.
The Hills, a coming-of-age follow-up to MTV’s hit Laguna Beach (which also starred Conrad) drops the pretense of the confessional and the sense of manufactured conflict in favor of a new charade: pretending that the cameras aren’t there.
As viewers, we’re expected to keep up our end of the bargain.
Forget all about Lauren Conrad and new clothing line or her Mercedes, forget the single Heidi Montag recently released. Pretend these are normal, struggling young women, trying to make it in the cutthroat world of L.A.
The Hills’ Lauren Conrad, Audrina Patridge and Whitney Port.
One girl, a smart, poised journalism student in Boston - whose life must be very different from LC’s - told me she likes the show because she can relate.
She’s not the only one.
The Hills is an unmitigated MTV hit, and not just among the college crowd. John McCain, who won an endorsement from Heidi Montag, told Time magazine he never misses the show, and it’s hard to tell if he was being facetious.
The first of the current eight-episode run of spring “bonus” installments of The Hills drew 4.8 million viewers, the show’s highest ratings to date.
The day after it aired, the episode drew 1.8 million streams from MTV.com.

As we reported earlier this week, Jason Wahler, who served as resident jerk on MTV’s Laguna Beach, then later reprised that epic role on The Hills in order to further torment girlfriend Lauren Conrad, has landed his own reality show.
Really.
Well, we’ve dug up some more information on it. The show, entitled 22 and Taken, will shadow the recovering alcoholic, his fiancée Katja Decker-Sadowski, “and their close circle of friends as they prepare for their eventual wedding.”
That’s according to Jason’s own rep, Siri Garber.
This is a marked contrast to how Jason Wahler first described the show, which he said was going to primarily follow his “career” (we could not make up something that absurd) and keep his relationship with Katja “mostly private.”

Maybe Katja Decker-Sadowski wants a taste of reality Television fame herself? You knew it was just a matter of time. What do you guys think? She’s pretty adorable, right?
She’s no Lauren Conrad, but … maybe not terrible?
